LBK Post 068 iPhone Pre-Sales Result in Record Day for Verizon

Yesterday’s pre-sales of the iPhone 4 were a huge success. Both Apple and Verizon stopped accepting orders late in the day, with pre-orders sold out, and Verizon today announced that it represented the most successful first day sales in company history.

It didn’t take Verizon long to break that record, either. According to Verizon CEO Dan Mead:

    In just our first two hours, we had already sold more phones than any first day launch in our history. And, when you consider these initial orders were placed between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., it is an incredible success story. It is gratifying to know that our customers responded so enthusiastically to this exclusive offer – designed to reward them for their loyalty.

Asustek, Asrock, Gigabyte and MicroStar International Comment on Intel Chipset Errata

The four largest manufacturers of mainboards in the world said that they would take actions to ensure that the flaw discovered this week in Intel Corp.'s latest 6-series chipsets 
will not affect end-users. 

As a result, the companies will stop selling mainboards for Intel's new Core i-series "Sandy Bridge" microprocessors and will either refund the motherboards or will replace/repair them when the error-free chipsets become available.

CHIP DESIGN OUTFIT ARM has announced its Cortex R5 MPcore and Cortex R7 MPcore processors

 

 

ARM is pitching the Cortex R5 and Cortex R7 chips for use in 3G and 4G mobile baseband, mass storage, automotive and industrial markets. Both chips can be implemented as single or dual core designs, though the Cortex R7 chip has what ARM is calling 

"proven SMP multi-core technology".

software development kit (SDK).

Android 3.0—codenamed Honeycomb— 

Introduces Android's New Tablet User Interface,

It’s related to Actionscript, so those who program in Flash and AIR can use it with little help. Also, the language seems easy enough to learn that just about anyone can pick it up. Verizon iPhone to Get $30 Unlimited Data Plan

It appears that the Verizon iPhone is going to have another advantage over AT&T’s version of the device when it launches next month: an unlimited data plan.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the company will offer customers a $30 per month plan with no data restrictions. AT&T — which dumped its unlimited data option for new customers last year — currently offers 2GB of data for $25 per month (though some customers had unlimited 

plans grandfathered in).
